St. Cloud Zeolite has been tested in a number of food preservation applications. Generally, our products are used for ethylene control to prevent ripening or the adsorption/oxidation of other volatile gases. Porous containers containing St. Cloud Zeolite are placed in refrigerated areas to control moisture or adsorb ethylene gas, which causes produce to ripen more rapidly. Zeolites can also be part of scavenger systems to control oxidizing gases and extend the life and appearance of meat and poultry products. Additionally, when loaded with strong oxidizing agents like permanganates, zeolites can be used to oxidize gases like ethylene into harmless carbon dioxide and water.
